What your team receives
How much does a Lamplighter tournament cost?
The 2026–27 tournament entry fee is $2,100 per team. Payment instructions and the deadline will be included in your acceptance email.
What is included in the entry fee?
Just about everything except getting there. Your $2,100 covers:
- Ice for four guaranteed games. The ice is booked and paid for. Your team never gets a rink bill.
- Officials for every game. Certified officials, with crew sizes set for your age group and tier. No envelopes of cash for the refs at the rink — it’s already looked after. (U7 follows Hockey Calgary’s U7 on-ice format.)
- A swag bag for every player. A Lamplighter performance rope hat, an SPF 50 buff and an engraved wooden stick-handling ball, packed in a Lamplighter drawstring tote.
- Game prizes after every game. Each team hands out an MVP championship ring and a Heart & Hustle award after every game. Over four games, that’s eight of your players going home with a game prize — on top of their swag.
- Medals. U7 and U9 players all receive participation medals. U11 through U18 tournaments award gold, silver and bronze.
- The tournament itself. Hockey Calgary sanctioning, scheduling, TeamLinkt schedules and scores, a tournament handbook, and negotiated hotel blocks where travel is needed.
Swag items may vary slightly by tournament or season.
Are travel, hotels or meals included?
No. Travel, accommodations and team meals are separate from the tournament entry fee. When hotel blocks are available, booking details will be shared with accepted teams.
What is the cancellation or refund policy?
Lamplighter’s refund cutoff depends on your tournament dates:
- Tournaments November 16–29: October 12, 2026
- All other tournaments: November 9, 2026
After that date, entry fees are non-refundable — no exceptions, including if your team withdraws. By then the ice, officials, swag and awards for your team are committed, and your spot usually can’t be refilled: for tournaments from November 30 on, Hockey Calgary’s schedule-window deadline (November 9) means no other Calgary team can be added.
If there’s any chance your plans will change, email tournaments@glenlakehockey.com before the cutoff.
REGISTRATION & TEAM SELECTION
How entry works
Does submitting an expression of interest guarantee entry?
No. An expression of interest lets the host team know you would like to attend, but it does not reserve a spot. Selected teams will receive a formal acceptance directly from the tournament host.
How are teams selected?
Hosts review age group, expected tier, competitive fit, completed information and the overall tournament mix. The goal is to create balanced, meaningful matchups for every team.
When is our spot confirmed?
Your spot is confirmed only after you receive an acceptance and complete the payment requirements by the stated deadline. If payment is late, the host may offer the spot to another team.
Can we apply to more than one Lamplighter tournament?
Yes, if there is more than one suitable event for your team. Submit the age-group form and clearly identify the tournament or dates you are interested in. Hockey Calgary limits how many tournaments a team may attend during the season, so managers should confirm eligibility before applying.
RULES & GAME PLAY
What happens on the ice
What rules do Lamplighter tournaments follow?
Lamplighter tournaments are sanctioned through Hockey Calgary and follow applicable Hockey Canada Official Playing Rules, Hockey Alberta regulations and Hockey Calgary policies and age-specific gameplay guidelines.
How many games will our team play?
Every team is guaranteed four games. Game length and format vary by age group and tier: U7 and U9 use age-appropriate introductory hockey formats, while U11 through U18 use the applicable tournament format and placement structure.
What roster requirements apply?
Teams must use properly registered and eligible players and team officials in accordance with their governing body’s rules. Accepted teams will be told what roster or team information must be submitted before the tournament.
Will our team play opponents at the same level?
That is the goal. Hosts use the expected tier information supplied by teams to build the most competitive and balanced field possible. Final placement remains subject to team availability and governing-body tiering.
SCHEDULES, LOCATIONS & TRAVEL
Planning your weekend
Where are Lamplighter tournaments played?
Events are hosted at arenas in Calgary and surrounding communities. The tournament lineup lists the confirmed venue, community and event dates for each division.
When will we receive the game schedule?
The tournament host will send the schedule to accepted teams once ice times, participating teams and the final format are confirmed. Teams should plan to be available throughout the full tournament date range.
Will hotel blocks be available?
Hotel information will be shared with accepted teams when a block has been arranged. Teams book and pay for their own rooms directly with the hotel using the instructions provided.
